Chris Tarbell

Chris Tarbell is a highly decorated former FBI Special Agent renowned for his groundbreaking work in cyber investigations. Dubbed the "Eliot Ness of Cyberspace" by Newsweek, Tarbell led the high-profile operations that tracked down and arrested two of the most infamous figures in cyber history: Hector Monsegur ("Sabu") of Anonymous/LulzSec, whom he turned into a key informant, and Ross Ulbricht ("Dread Pirate Roberts"), founder of the notorious dark web marketplace Silk Road. In the Silk Road case, Tarbell spearheaded the investigation that dismantled the billion-dollar platform—responsible for massive sales of drugs, firearms, counterfeit goods, and more—and resulted in the largest Bitcoin seizure in history at the time, 177,000 BTC. Tarbell also served as case agent in major operations targeting botnets that distributed malware and enabled millions in online fraud, while leading complex, multi-continental cyber cases involving cutting-edge threats.

Hector Monsegur

Hector Monsegur is an internationally recognized cybersecurity expert, accomplished security researcher, and thought leader in the field. Formerly known online as "Sabu," he was a prominent figure and technical leader in the hacker collectives Anonymous and LulzSec during the early 2010s. In that era, he exposed critical vulnerabilities across high-profile targets, including governments, military entities, corporations, and even cybersecurity firms—often through high-impact intrusions that drew global attention. Following his 2011 arrest, Monsegur cooperated with the FBI as an informant for over ten months, providing extraordinary assistance that helped prevent hundreds of planned cyberattacks, identify key members of LulzSec and related groups, and protect U.S. government infrastructure and numerous private companies. His cooperation resulted in a lenient sentence of time served plus supervised release. Today, Monsegur channels his deep offensive expertise into defensive work. As Chief Research Officer and co-founder of SafeHill—he leads efforts to build next-generation solutions, including the SecureIQ platform.
